RP firm 'incubates' mobile solutions

Posted October 15, 2008

MANILA, Philippines – Local firm Kaisa Consulting has opened an incubation facility in Cebu City meant to design mobile solutions around business software from SAP.

Kaisa recently inaugurated its offices at the Ayala Technology Business Incubator (TBI) located at UP Visayas College of Cebu (VCC). The company is the first to locate in Ayala-managed facility.

The company is occupying two units in the said facility, according to Teh Opinion, Kaisa's president and managing director.

"One will be the incubation of peripheral applications surrounding SAP such as mobile solutions and industry-specific portals which will enable efficient business transactions back and forth a client's enterprise application," Opinion said in an email sent to INQUIRER.net.

Kaisa currently employs software engineers in its offices in Manila but plans to consolidate all software development operations in Cebu.

The company is also running a training facility, called e-Academy, targeting software professionals in Cebu and nearby provinces interested in getting certified on SAP software.

Opinion estimates there are between 800 to 1,000 certified SAP consultants in the country. But the demand for SAP consultants overseas is in the "hundreds of thousands," she said.
