Convergys eyes 1,000 workers in Bacolod
Posted October 03, 2008MANILA, Philippines -- Convergys is targeting to employ at least a thousand workers by yearend in its newest call center in Bacolod City.
The Ohio-based outsourcing firm launched its Bacolod City operations Wednesday with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo attending the formal rites.
Located in One Sanparq, San Antonio Square along Lacson Street, Convergys' 6,000-square meter facility currently employs some 700 agents since hiring started a few months ago.
Convergys now has nine call centers in the Philippines employing more than 14,000 workers. The company has six call centers in Metro Manila and two in Cebu.
Bacolod is the capital city of Negros Occidental and has attracted call center investments including Convergys and TeleTech, two of the largest industry players.
The local government has been aggressively promoting Bacolod it as an outsourcing destination after becoming one of government-certified "next-wave" cities for BPO investments.
