Call center Convergys starts hiring in Bacolod

MANILA, Philippines--Convergys Corp. will open a facility in Bacolod City this April and plans to hire at least 1,000 agents within the year.

It will be the Ohio-based company's ninth call center in the Philippines. It currently employs more than 11,000 workers in the country.

In a statement, Convergys said its Bacolod site, located in San Antonio Park Square in Mandalagan village, will be a "build-to-suit" facility of more than 3,000 square meters, with enough room for expansion.

The facility will be operational in April and training is already in progress for the first 100 hired agents.

The new Bacolod City facility will provide both general and technical customer support services to Convergys clients via traditional voice calls, e-mail, and web chat as well as back office application and document processing.

According to local government officials, there are now five contact center operators in the city including Convergys. The others are TeleTech, InterVoice, Teleperformance and Focus Pacific Communications.
